Busy Mornings Made Easy

Sometimes, getting up in the morning can be a challenge. This article is not only for teenagers and young adults but also for parents trying to get the family moving. Sometimes, it feels like it might take a miracle to speed up mornings and get everyone out the door and on time, if not early. With the four simple tips below it will be easier to get through the morning quickly without a struggle.

Plan meals night before
As a person who needs to add more time to their morning, it is important to plan ahead for the next day, especially when it comes to meals. These meals can be anything from breakfast to the lunches that children or adults might take with them to work or school.

Consider making healthier choices the night before to have in the morning such as granola, sliced fruit or a pre-made smoothie. Smoothies are a great way to get the morning started and only take a matter of minutes to prepare. Food Network provides a list of 50 smoothie recipes for everyone to enjoy.

Having the meals made ahead of time for lunch will also make it easier to get the family moving in the morning as all that will need to be done is grabbing the lunchbox and going to school or work. This way, there's no hassle in the morning trying to remember to pack everyone's lunch just the way they like it. It will already be done, and save anywhere from 20 - 30 minutes.

Preset the coffee pot
Coffee makers most often have a timer on them to set the coffee to brew at a specific time. Some may already have this type of coffee maker, but others might not. If you have one, it is important to make sure you set the coffee pot to begin brewing at least half an hour before you intend to wake up. This will give the coffee enough time to brew and cool slightly to be able to be poured into the travel cups or a favorite coffee cup in the morning with ease.

Often people will spend 10-20 minutes getting coffee prepared in the morning. If the family does not have a preset timer coffee maker, consider setting the coffee pot up in the evening before. Grind the coffee beans the night before, place into the filter and add water. This will again eliminate at least 10-15 minutes in the morning, by simply having to hit the on switch for coffee to brew perfectly.

Pick perfect outfit night before
Real Simple offers the suggestion to get the entire family moving earlier. They suggest putting clothing and accessories out the night before. This is a great tip that everyone can use to help add time to their morning. All that needs to be done is pick the perfect outfit the night before, iron if necessary and lay it out on a chair or hang it up on an over the door hanger to keep from getting wrinkled.

This is great for kids who like to try on everything before they decide exactly what they want to wear. If they are still unsure the night before, give them an option to pick two outfits to have out, and then they can only choose on in the morning before it is time to head off to school. As a teenager or adult, this is also a perfect trick to get ready in the morning and give more time to brush hair or apply makeup for the work or school day ahead.

Go to sleep earlier
If all else fails, go to sleep earlier and set an alarm to wake up at the same time. It is possible to lose time in the morning by hitting the snooze button one too many times if you've not had enough sleep the night before. So instead of hitting snooze, get some more sleep.

On average, it is a wise idea to get near eight hours of sleep, but this might not be right for everyone. Some children or adults might need somewhere between eight to twelve hours of sleep. Find what the right amount of time is for each individual and try to work out that schedule for them. You might find that, as a parent, you need to be up earlier in order to get the children ready.

However, with the above tips, you've still had to use less time to get the children out the door and on time for the bus or school. It is important to remember everyone can have a different type of schedule in the morning. Some might want to get up, brush their teeth, put on makeup and then eat, while others might want to eat, then brush their teeth and put on their makeup. If there is only one bathroom consider purchasing a vanity mirror to put in another spot so others can get ready.

By following these tips to speed up mornings, everyone will be able to have extra time in the morning to do their own thing. There will even be more time to spend with the family at the breakfast table. Now everyone can still get to work and school without wasting any extra time trying to get ready and rush in the mornings.
