Avoid Weight Gain During the Holidays.

During the holiday season it can be hard to stay true to your weight loss goals. To avoid gaining extra weight during the holiday there are many tips that will help you avoid gaining those extra pounds and keeping them off through the rest of the year. Each of the following tips will help you avoid gaining weight and staying true to your goals.

Drink water
Drink plenty of water during this holiday season instead of drinking apple cider, hot chocolate, alcohol, or punches. These can not only cause your body to metabolize slowly but will make your body crave natural water more than it already is.

If you are at a party and you find there is no water being offered opt for the apple cider as it will have less calories then alcohol and you will still be able to drive yourself home at the end of the evening. Keeping yourself hydrated with water will not only replenish the body but will help you from consuming too many sweets this holiday season and keep you on track with your dieting goals.

Back off the sweets
If you find yourself wanting sweets during the holiday season it is okay to have some. The Cleveland Clinic, suggests limiting yourself to one sweet a day. This means it can be one piece of chocolate Christmas fudge, or a serving of your favorite pie. No matter what the sweet is, it is important to keep yourself limited and strong to this one serving.

Some families and locations might offer sugar free options. If you notice that there are sugar free available options this will help to be able to stick to your weight loss goals and not overindulge on sugar intake.

It’s not a big deal if you find yourself indulging during the holiday season. All people in their journey of weight loss can often find themselves wanting to indulge and having a day where they slip. The important thing to remember is that even if this happens you should relax. Remember that no matter what event you are attending you can keep yourself to the goals and what is important.

With that in mind remember you are the one who can keep yourself to your goals and what is important to you. If you find that you have indulged, rather than punishing yourself remember to add a few more minutes to your Pilates or an extra ten minutes to the exercise regimen of your choice. Those calories can be reduced and removed with ease.
