Thank Heaven for Baring Veterinary Clinic.

*UPDATE ON BOOTS*

Surgery went well and they have cleaned her abscess out. She now has to wear this cone on her head for 2 weeks until it's completely healed. In three days I have to take her to get her drain out, and during the next two weeks keep an eye on the healing process and only feed her 1/3 of what I feed and water her normally. She's going to be a sad kitty since she has to be an indoor cat, but I think I might just make her one for good after that so things like this don't happen again. Poor little cutie pie.

Baring Veterinary and all of their staff were my saviors today. My poor cat Boots was home alone when an abscess that she had burst because it was infected. I had no idea that she had one, because she's so fluffy from being a long haired cat. I came home to some awfulness. Warning, if you're queasy or can't stomach wounds than I wouldn't look at the following pictures.

They were so great at the place that I am glad I was able to bring her in. Since I don't drive, my friends who happened to be hanging out both rushed me and Boots to the clinic before they closed so we could get her taken care of. They are keeping my little girl over night and taking care of her in the morning. They're going to sedate her, stitch her up, and give her antibiotics. I also have to go tomorrow to pick up some baby booties to put on her paws so she can't scratch her stitches out. Due to where the abscess was, they can't put a cone on her head.

I am so grateful I have such wonderful friends and family in my life that love me and Boots. <3 I'll keep everyone updated as her progress comes along, and I'll even take a picture of her in her booties if I can get some. She's my pride and joy (she's like my kid, ya know) and I love her to pieces.

Luckily, she will only be in there for a night and they said she should recover easily with the antibiotics they give her. It also didn't cost as much as I had expected it to. I'm glad I still had some tax return money left so I could cover almost all of it. My friend Eric is going to help me cover the rest. <3

I've put a bunch of useless periods and SCROLL DOWN so that you can avoid the pictures entirely if you want to and just comment with your thoughts.

Here's what I came home to in the bathroom.

So I freaked out and immediately checked my kitty out.

After talking with my Mom, and my friends Kiki and Eric, we all agreed she needed to be seen.
He was holding her for me 'cause Boots loves Eric (and towels)

They shaved her up and here's what they found underneath the fur. :(

They had to keep her over night which made me sad. I had no idea that was under her fur or I would have had her seen WAY earlier before this happened. Poor little Boots.

  2. Poor Boots! I would have freaked out, too. It's crazy how much their fur can hide.

  5. Oh no! Poor Boots! That's horrible! Did the vet say what might have caused this? Was it a fight, maybe? I'm so glad your cutie pie is doing well!

    1. They said it may have been from a fight, a scratch from something outside. Basically they said it's very common in indoor/outdoor kitties. They also suggested maybe I kept her as an inside cat from now on if I'm concerned about it happening again.

  19. Oh no, that looks painful for her. I'm so glad it's all taken care of now. My sisters cat would sneak out, and get into fights. He had something similar happen, but she caught it earlier since he isn't so fluffy
