My Current TV Show Obsessions

Everybody has their favorite shows that they watch on a weekly (or daily) basis. For me, there are a lot of shows I like to watch that all have different genres and feels. As of lately I've found myself watching shows that I wouldn't particularly watch.Thank you partially to +Netflix I've found a few new ones as well. I thought today I would give a shout out to some of my current TV show obsessions.

Preachers' Daughters was actually only brought to my attention thanks to Netflix. I was browsing through the endless titles and came across it and thought, alright I'll give it a shot after reading the description. It caught my attention. It was simple yet intriguing; "In this reality series, three pastors' daughters struggle to balance their lives, their values and their parents' strict expectations."

After I read the description I thought I would give it a go and watch episode one. Without knowing it I kept on watching and it became 3 in the morning the next day. I liked it because while the description says they are strict, some of the values and morals the Pastor's have are good. I think my favorite Pastor's Daughter(s) is actually Kolby. I liked the season so much I found Season 2 and 3 online, and am almost all caught up!

Oh the Mysteries of Laura, where do I even start? This show started in 2014 and I started watching it on cable (when I had it) and now I catch it a few days later streaming online. This show has two of my favorite things, Debra Messing (Will and Grace) and of course a cop element. I like cop shows. I think the thing I like about this show is that it has some mystery but also shows the struggles of a Mother who is trying to juggle her personal life, as well as her work life.

Here's a look at the description of The Mysteries of Laura from NBC.

Jane the Virgin is also probably one of my most interesting TV show obsessions as of late. It's about Jane, a devout young woman who is saving herself for marriage. This promise is to herself, God, and her Grandmother (Ivonne Coll - Switched at Birth & Glee). While Jane has a normal life and is happy with her fiance, a slight mishap happens with her doctor's appointment. She is artificially inseminated with another man's baby.

The thing that I like about this show is not only the character and her quirks but the fact of the narrator in the beginning. Much like an American soap opera or telenovella, this show just makes me laugh and feel good. I want to know what's in store next for Jane and her family. After all, there's a lot that happens in this series.

When this show first aired I wasn't sure that I would like it. I thought it would be too dramatic and over the top. The story itself follows the Greyson family and a young woman who is ready to seek the best revenge against the people who framed her father and put him into prison. Their are many dark secrets and lies in the Greyson Manor, and each episode another one unfolds another layer.

This series is much like an onion which is what I appreciate about it the most. It keeps me compelled and it makes me want to know what is in store for every character in the coming weeks and what secrets will be revealed. I can't watch it all the time because I'm getting back into it via Netflix. I get quite caught up with it and I wind up getting to involved and sometimes I can't take all the drama. (Does anyone else ever have this happen with shows like this?)

    1. I'm a season behind on that one. I think I need to watch the first season again before I start it. I watched it when it was first released (season 1) and can only remember bits and pieces. I loved it though.

    1. Oh I loved Dexter, Liz! It was really hard to get into at first when my friends tried to get me to watch it with them a few years ago. Then I saw it was on Netflix and gave it a go. It was a great series, I just didn't like the finale.
