Not today, buddy.

Today is one of those days. I'm here at home and I've been awake since 6 a.m. The truth of it is, I'm tired of being awake and lively. I'm not depressed, nor am I feeling suicidal. It's one of those days where you simply want to exist, without existing. I know I can't be the only one who has days like this. It's normal... Well, relatively normal. I imagine for some this could be a cry for help, but to me it's one of those days where I need to rant, and feel like I can. Without anyone judging, or wondering what's wrong. Whatever, you can call me Karen. Idgaf.

There's nothing really going on that I can talk about. Covid-19 has me in the same place as I was before. Covid & Me, we go back to the beginning of March. I'm still hanging around the house with relatively nowhere to go. Some of the places I enjoyed are slowly opening again, but I have not enough faith in my town, that we won't have some sort of issues with Covid-19 making a vengeance. After all, look at the current President. He's got Covid and he's going out and about in a car, greeting people! Bro, get in the hospital, don't be a clown.

I'm so tired of being at home. I'm tired of not working, but I low key don't want a job. Can I even do a job in a mask? Probably not. I can barely wear a mask for an hour in the grocery store without feeling overheated. Hey now, I'm a little overweight still, so I'm out of shape. Nothing medically wrong with me to say I can't. I'm saying I don't like to, I prefer not to have to. So I don't have a job. Not having a job adds to me stress level like you wouldn't believe.  Yes, I have unemployment, but that's not forever, and I will get a job at some point. I'll have to.

I'm just tired. I'm tired of being tired. I'm tired of feeling tired. I'm tired of feeling like no matter what I do, it's not enough or I'm not. Maybe it is a little bit of depression. I read that happens to people right now. That they're feeling helpless and a case of FOMO. I don't really have FOMO too much, but I definitely feel helpless.

I'm 35 in 8 days. I have nothing to show for it.

No college degree.

No job.

No kids.

No marriage.

Nothing.

Guess, that's another day's problem. Who really needs that sort of stability in life? I don't. Ha. Whatever. I'm done typing for now. I have a whole upstairs to clean. I can't think about this bologna right now.

Covid19, Casinos, and Me.

Since the start of the lock down, as well as COVID19 spreading, I've pretty much kept myself home except to go out for groceries. Where I live we have 6 people residing; three of us are working, and three of us are not. We've all gone through the same thing, who is an essential worker, who isn't... Why is unemployment not coming? Where is our relief check. We're all in this together.

Yesterday my family and I met up together; we live 40 miles apart roughly. We decided to try and adventure to a store to go look at some clothing for my Mom. Burlington Coat Factory was completely empty with nothing but baron shelves on each aisle. It was downright eerie. So, instead of going to another store, we drove to get lunch at the local casino and boy was it an adventure!

Fun fact. At the Nugget Casino in Sparks, and many others in the area, you've got to get your temperature taken before they will let you in the building. I had made a joke to the security officer about it "feels like I'm in prison" or something along those lines, and he jokingly laughed back "put your hands behind your back." Which, even now I realize, was probably a poor joke in my taste. I admit it. However, it was very strange.

Casinos in Sparks, and even Nevada alone are almost always bustling with people, the sounds of the machines, people coughing from smoking, drunk people making noise and even people coming and going to Starbucks. It's FILLED WITH NOISE. Not that day. It was completely quiet. We walked through the casino and it was like a ghost town. Everyone however was wearing their masks at the state has now made it where EVERYONE is required to wear masks according to RGJ.

Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

Whether we want to admit it or not, we've all had those moments where the green eyed monster reared its ugly head. We've sat there and tried our best to ignore it, and we've even tried to just let it go and move on. However, let's be realistic....there are times when we all feel that way.

A while back a friend and I actually had a discussion that helped our friendship grow. To this day I am thankful that she was open and honest with me about things. What could the problem really be, you ask?. I was jealous of her, and she knew it. Not only was this jealousy affecting our friendship, but it was causing me to not like myself very much either.

Throwback Thursday: Zombie Crawl

Since this year has been all but bombarded by #Covid19, a lot of the world has found itself at a halt. I decided, why not take a look at something I did a few years ago for Throwback Thursday? There have been a lot of things in my life that I will remember, but going on a 5k fun run for the Zombie Crawl was probably one of my best memories. Of course, after the 5k we went home and got ready for the Zombie Crawl itself, which was even more fun of course.

I need to do another one of these 5k events. Not only was it a lot of fun but it was an adventure getting ready for it. Finding fake blood a couple weeks before Halloween is not as easy as it seems.  Sara did my makeup and hers for this event and then again later on for the evening.

The best part of this picture is that I look like I'm about to eat her brains.

Have you all ever done a 5k?

The Best Corona Virus (Covid-19) memes

As we're all stuck in our homes avoiding one another using are best practices of self quarantine and social distancing, we find ourselves seeing all sorts of crazy memes to get us through this time. The truth is, none of us want to be stuck in quarantine like it's an apocalypse, but it's what is happening. Jobs are being lost temporarily, people are being laid off. Not only that but restaurants are closing their doors, changing strictly to delivery only! What a crazy world we are in right now 2020.

In times like these it's important to remember that sometimes laughter is the best medicine. Until we can all be out together again in the world, keep reading.

My WCW is KittyCorsair_

I have to say that my #WCW is definitely my bestie, Sara a.k.a. @KittyCorsair_

Having said that, I dedicate this blog post to her. She has become such an important part of my life, that I know I wouldn't be who I am today, if it weren't for her. She has helped me change my life for the better in so many ways. Some ways bigger than others, but even the smallest of things like taking me to the ER, when I thought I was sicker than a dog, and waiting hours with me. It's all  the small and the big things that make her a wonderful person. I can't explain it, even when we're "Ugly" for things like the Zombie No Brainer Fun Run.

This blog is for you Sara. You're kick ass.

Rainbows Everywhere!

In case you haven't noticed, today marks a milestone in history.

Today is a day that men and women of all ages will look back and remember "I was there when history changed."

For many years the LGBT nation has been fighting for their rights to be equal. They have struggled to adopt, they have struggled to be free and open in their sexuality, they have struggled to become what a "rational" society thinks of as a norm. However today, these labels of normality no longer exist.

Today, the Supreme Court of the United States of America legalized Gay Marriage in all 50 states.

Today, I am PROUD to be an American.

POST DEDICATION

I dedicate this post to my gay bestie, William Samuel Segal, who passed away too young to be able to have these rights and all of the other people who are now able to live the life they've always deserved and marry the person they were meant to be with.

Glee gets Unique with 200 Transgender Choir and GLAAD

NOTE FROM THIS BLOGGER

Comments that are NEGATIVE or HATEFUL will be removed right away.
I will not condone discrimination on this page.
So keep your negativity away from me, and all of my readers.
Thank you,
Mary O'Malley

Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm a fan of +GLEE  and all it represents. They know that I not only enjoy the show but I am a fan of the storyline, the actors, and the lessons that come with it. While this show has inspired many to come out of their shells and join together as GLEEKS, many non viewers may misconstrue what the show really is about. It's about many things including acceptance, love, friendship, finding yourself, and following your dreams. The McKinley High Glee Club was just the beginning.

Sure some of the scenes are a little far fetched, but that's just the type of show it is. The songs are meant to be like a music video. For example, in +The Glee Project  the contestants would all perform a song together and it would be filmed as a music video. My personal favorite will always be Mad World. It was deep, and beautiful.

Retro Date Ideas Made Easy

Fancy dresses, nice attire, the perfect car, the best location, the perfect date. This is something that every person desires when it comes to taking their crush, a new person in their life or the significant other out on a date, however sometimes dates can get stale and boring and people get stuck in old traditional dates of going to dinner. Instead of sticking to the normal date, throwback and go on a retro style date and have more fun then you have had in years.

Roller skating
One of the best ways to have fun, be close and get exercise all during a date night is by roller skating. If there is a local skating rink that is in the neighborhood, find out how much it costs for an evening to rent skates and come to a session. Often roller skating rinks offer a couple’s night as well as other themed nights like black light night, and throwback sock hop nights. Whatever the night is, you and your date will be able to sit back and watch others skate, go on the skate rink yourself and couples skate, or sit back and enjoy the snacks that the snack shop has to offer.

If there is no skating rink in your neighborhood take a trip to one that is close to town, or find a local walking park that you can skate around and laugh, talk and play together while having a great date night under the sun or by the beach. Skating is a great way to hold hands and glide together getting to know one another for the first time, or all over again.

Picnic at the park
A nice romantic dinner inside can be great, but a meal outside watching the sun set together is even better. Pack your date’s favorite sandwich, or order some side salads and chicken breasts from your favorite restaurant in to go boxes to pack. No matter what the snacks and meal is, add some romance to it. Bring a blanket to lie down below the two of you and eat underneath the sky. If you are in an area that has a lookout peak to look over the city or town, take your picnic there and enjoy the scenery. If this is not an option, try having your picnic on a rooftop with battery operated lanterns and candles, and set the mood.

Your date will appreciate the time and effort you put in to the picnic giving a bit of romance and adventure all together. If you are planning a romantic evening to propose, this is a wonderful idea and will get you two alone and in a wonderful romantic setting to pop the question.

Vintage soda shop
Some towns and areas have a modernized building that is designed to have a classic soda shop design. For example restaurants such as Johnny Rockets or Joe’s have a vintage 50s soda shop feel and are the perfect setting to have your retro styled date. The soda shop will bring couples back to that feeling of great easy and fun times. Filled with songs from the 50s, 60s, and occasionally 70s playing on the jukebox radio, couples can listen to good music, and feel the soda shop vibe across the scene.

Ordering a burger and a favorite malt to share with two straws, a couple can have a great meal, sit in a over sized booth with their best partner at their side or across the table. A perfect hamburger and fries can make the best date ever. The soda shop is something that anyone of any age can enjoy, younger couples or older couples wanting to get back to their younger years. Share a shake, and boogie down on the dance floor at your nearest soda shop for a perfect retro style date.

Using these various retro style date ideas, make the next night out a fun and adventurous one that both you and yours will enjoy. Dating is meant to be enjoyable and something that will be remembered in the future for the time to come. If you are stuck for any dating ideas or how to plan the perfect date it never hurts to check out women’s magazines such as Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan.

Family Date Night Ideas

When living the family life it can be hard to find time to go out on a romantic date with your significant other, well that doesn't have to happen any longer with fun and romantic date nights that both the kids and adults can enjoy. Take in to account things that your children and you two as a couple will enjoy. These dates can be a variety of things, but included below are four top notch family date night ideas that will get you out on the romantic night of your dreams, and satisfy your children's fun and crazy side, so everybody wins.

Movie night
When it comes to having a date together with your significant other sometimes it can be hard to think of something romantic to do while the two of you are at home with the kids. Well, this is where a movie night is a wonderful choice. The two of you can pick out a family appropriate romantic comedy, or a family film that everyone can enjoy. By getting favorite snacks and giving the kids the option to lay on the floor on their favorite blankets, and pillows to watch a movie while the adults are on the couch, you two can snuggle close together and the kids can eat their snacks, talk among each other and watch the movie.

Arcade
The arcade isn't only for the children anymore but for the adults too.  By going to the arcade for a date night, you and your significant other can have fun and play games like air hockey together. The arcade may offer games that the children can win tickets for prizes, and the adults can even do so to. Maybe your significant other might want to be romantic and win you the biggest teddy bear that night. The arcade depending on where it is, might even offer live entertainment or a circus act like The Circus Circus Hotel and Casino.

Make a Pizza night

Pizza night is a great family date for the whole family, but rather then ordering in or baking a frozen pizza this time make your own pizza from scratch. With a raw dough from the grocery store that needs to be rolled out, or flour tortillas for mini pizzas, this is an easy thing to do and provide fun for the whole family. Get everyone's favorite ingredients for pizza, pepperoni,

shredded mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, etc etc, and make it a team effort. You and the significant others, and the kids can make their own together. Follow a recipe on how to make pizza from scratch, and you will be set to have this fun and adventurous night.

These are examples of how to have a date night that the entire family can enjoy and have a good time together.
